Paganello XX Part 2: Jerseys

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I watched Amarcord for an hour. I am thinking about continuing, but since I can’t fast forward the damn thing (don’t ask), I have to let it run for an hour and THEN get back into the story. I think I’ll just let it be and see what Jumpi comes up with. I’m not really worried. This is my third Paganello visit, and I haven’t been let down yet. Me and Marcus spent an hour or so looking for logos for our jerseys. We found this and agreed that it would look awesome with VC’s sublimation jerseys. But $70 per jersey is taaad to much for us I think, unless we get a cool sponsor etc. 5 Ultimate would be something like $30 per jersey with a 2-color logo and numbers on the back. Jump & Reach got their Paga special with Paga numbering. But since there doesn’t seem to be a fast way to find out how much printing logos would be, the €25 is just the beginning.. However, they do have the free shipping directly to the beach. Decisions, decisions..

Oh hey, almost an hour have passed, back in the movie where I quit watching the last time. Let’s get it over with. Or I’ll just continue listening to where paused the 3rd episode of The Ultiverse. The advantage of The Ultiverse is that I don’t have to watch the TV to read the subtitles of the Italian movie..

To finish it off: A new strip from Sam at No Breaks

No Breaks

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I’m getting more and more excited. We’re 12 players for Paganello, waiting for a reply for a possible final 13th. Lucky for some. Had a nice Skype conversation with some of the guys and we agreed that the roster looks really promising. Hopefully we’ll assimilate faster this year. Who knows, maybe we’ll beat last year’s placing.

While waiting I got some tips for you:

* No Breaks – A brand new Ultimate web comic strip by Sam Rayner, an 18 year old web developer from Birmingham, UK. Ultimate nerd humor. Hope he keeps it up!
* The UltiverseWill Neff got a new episode up, this time interviewing Pad from Discraft.
* ultimate-trainer.com – If you feel the need to throw like a pro, this is your rescue.

But wait a minute.. To be picky, the only real professionals (i.e. getting paid to play) I know of in Ultimate are Buzz Bullets. They are hired by a company to play Ultimate. I wonder what that does to a relationship..

Screw it. I’m off the night shift soon. I’ll be a such a relief. Pretty tired right now..

Paganello XX

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Yeah, it’s that time again. Stockholm Syndromes received an invitation for this year and it wasn’t that hard to accept. Hopefully we’ll do just as well this year. The lineup is a bit different. Money rules everything around us, more or less. We gained three new nationalities however: UK, Germany and Ukraine. Last year, Alex from Ukraine won the spirit award with his team Gigolo. Hope he can make that happen for us as well!

The official site says “Paganello XX: Amarcord”. And the more I read about the movie from 1973 by Fellini, the more suiting is it for Paganello XX. It’s a movie about coming-of-age (20th edition of Paga) set in Borgo (based on 1930’s Rimini), Fellini is from Rimini, Amarcord means “I remember” in Romagnolo (not Romani which I first thought). Connections, locations.. Will Fellini be the anniversary theme? I think I need to find me a copy of this movie.

The choice to stay with Hotel Brown once again paid off. This map shows the old “Paga location” as a snow flake.. Close to gelatto AND Paga. A double win for us.
